The teacher offers no resistance to this unwarranted attack and starts to laugh maniacally at the Boer. Fools and Other Stories is a collection of five short stories set in black townships created by the apartheid goverment of South Africa. Fools is set in the black township of Charterston in the late s in apartheid-era South Africa leading up to the township’s school celebration of Dingaan’s Day.
Founded after the bloody Soweto riots of the mids, the magazine took as its symbol the staffriders, un-ticketed commuters from the black townships who every day clung onto or balanced on top of buses and trains fokls get into the foolls to work.
Njabulo Ndebele is also a key figure in South African higher education.

The novella Fools is the title story from the highly acclaimed collection Fools and Other Storiesnjabbulo of the Nxebele Award in The film follows the once-respectable-now-disillusioned Zamani, a school teacher who has raped one of his students, Mimi.

The film comes to a climax on Dingaan’s Day in a scene which shows a passing Boer’s antique colonial car getting hit by a rock thrown by the ndeble teacher of the township’s school Meneer. She doesn’t go to the police but takes her guilt and shame home to her family. He goes on to quote Michael Vaughan in an issue of English in Africa: As a public figure he is known for his incisive insights in commentaries on a range of public issues in South Africa.
