But as I got further into the book, I realized that this left space for me to react to her parent’s egregious behavior with a rage that drew me far more into the story than I might have otherwise chosen to go.

With the exception of one sister, who moved away to California, we are told that the author and her siblings all went on to lead successful and castlllo lives – they were all outstandingly able. Jeannette Walls had the kind of life, which could have easily been recounted in a typical Bollywood movie way. It was that they gave her the idea of a glass castle. She narrates the sometimes sweet and other times horrifying incidents of her childhood and her life with her careless, irresponsible but still loving parents, without any judgement.
I was transfixed by this movie salls the sadness due to the very good acting of all members of the family. Walls tacks on a final chapter that shows how well she and her siblings are doing as adults, but I’m dispirited after finishing this memoir. Lists with This Book. View all 15 comments. I’ve read the book before just now, specifically so I could discuss it with Mr. While people looked to her with pity, Jeannette sees others much differently than they see themselves and is inspired and motivated by simply wanting more, wanting to have enough and not go hungry.
