Like I said, the buildup was fantastic, and the story started off great.
Fast paced, funny, teh dialogue between teenagers. They exist purely to complicate the story, and readers are given no real insight into their motives.
Clearly Kelsey is attracted to Isaac, but come on. I haven’t been on the Lauren Barnholdt train for very long her book last year was the first I’ve readbut after reading The Thing About the Truth I am fairly certain she can be put on this epic list as well.
In the end, I was barnhopdt too confused by certain things in this book to really enjoy it. I really like this story!
And still, I hesitate to say even that because I trutj as though a teenaged me would have had the same issues with it that adult me did, and I just don’t think teenagers will gain anything from reading it. Although the chaotic aftermath is detailed early on, Barnholdt’s snappy dialogue and deftly woven flashbacks will keep readers turning the pages in comic suspense. I would also have liked to see the outcome of Chloe’s relationship. A lot of people try to put romance novels down, as if they don’t mean as much as badnholdt books just because it involves love and I’m happy that she brought that up.
The big lie and the catastrophic outcome of Face it Down Day was a huge letdown. I understood why he acted out, why he was arrogant. From the beginning he told her he liked her and throughout the book he continued to show just how much. Books by Lauren Barnholdt.
