It was this overly dramatic story about wolves, and the premise of was incredibly similar to this one, which made for an interesting read. As for the story itself, wolvs is enough plot and action to keep you interested. Some proponents of the theory believe that this is as simple as giving us more time to settle down and begin farming by helping us hunt. I loved animal stories, especially ones focused on wolves, so reading a book like this was like being sucked back into my childhood favorites. But that’s a flaw I’ve scratched around to find.

I better not have to wait several years to find out. Only outside intervention saved Kaala, and before her mother fled, she instructed her daughter to join the pack, then find her. Every visit to the library for almost a month, I looked at books two and three of the Wolf Chronicles Series that were on display. The plot was very flat and the only excitement if you can all it that was the almos I don’t have much to say about this book other than the fact that I was happy it was over.

She spends a great deal of time introducing this culture and the existential angst of the main character. Reading about Kaala growing up is like watching puppies through a window at the pet store, which I can do all day.

I believe a big reason for the staleness is that there are many areas in the book where scenes are simply told to us, leaving us without the personal experience of having been shown them.

I’m sure many enjoy this type of writing and the type of story Promise of the Wolves is, but it just wasn’t my thing. If you’re going to read one anthropomorphic-wolf novel this year, it should probably be A Companion to Wolves by Sarah Monette and Elizabeth Bear, but if you have it in you to read another one, this wouldn’t be a complete waste of You know, I didn’t actually hate this.
